Jay Kurdy

Jay Kurdy is a Manchester-born MC, DJ and hip-hop artist whose roots stretch back to the city’s golden era of rave culture. Cutting his teeth at legendary venues and events including Bowlers, Hysteria and Kinetic, Jay has built a career spanning rave, dance and hip-hop.

Over the years, he has worked across genres with artists including Eric Martin of Technotronic and shared stages with hip-hop legends including Sugarhill Gang, Big Daddy Kane and Klashnekoff.

Jay currently tours as an MC with N-Trance, one of the UK’s most successful platinum-selling dance acts, and previously performed as a member of legendary Eurodance act Cappella.

Alongside his work on stage, Jay has built a following as an artist in his own right. His two mixtapes reached listeners across the UK, US and Asia, while his remix of Michael Jackson’s Man in the Mirror reached No. 6 on the UK iTunes Hip-Hop Chart and No. 2 on the I-Tops Hip-Hop Chart.

His connection to Manchester’s music scene runs deeper than performing. For more than six years, Jay ran the Missing in Manchester raves, including two events at the former Boddingtons Brewery, and helped champion the city’s unsigned talent through the Mums The Word nights.

Today, he continues to support the next generation of artists through his work as a presenter on Unity Radio and as a mentor with Unity Academy.

With new music and projects on the way – including dance and festival reworks from his own back catalogue and a major charity remix project – Jay continues to bring together the different sides of a career built around music, performance and connecting with a crowd.
